NOTES: OH SO SO CLOSE! ALMOST 11's! I went out to E-town,NJ
for some test & tune runs after swapping in a higher stall torque
converter 2 weeks ago. Went from 3000 rpms stall to a 4000. Holy cow! What
a difference! It launches so much harder off the line. With
a big burnout and a 4000 rpm launch, this run got me a 1.59 60 ft time. The
feeling was totally awesome; like a bat outta hell! :-) And then
my tranny cooperated by hardly slipping on the 1-2 shift. And of the 5 runs
I got that day total, this was the only clean tranny pass. I got
lucky here. And it netted me a 12.006 run. But then after the run, I realized
I turned the AFC too low or too lean. The air/fuel ratio was
in the high 12's and low 13's which for me is scary lean. But no problems.
I made 2 more passes after this one at a 12.5 a/f level and
everything was fine. Hopefully I can crack into the 11's on my next trip
to the track. We'll see.
